WEIGHT LOSS SPECIALIST DOCTOR

Robert Fortino, D.O., is a Board-Certified Physician in Internal Medicine. He has been a Weight Management Specialist since 1999, focusing on medical weight loss, anti-aging, integrated health, hormone imbalance, and wellness. Dr. Fortino is licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

As a Weight Management Doctor he believes in focusing on the whole patient through their total life experience, and not just a symptom. Using this technique, Dr. Fortino enables his patients to develop a pathway to success and not just to lose weight, but to live life to the fullest.

His weight loss methods enable his patients to challenge themselves and conquer what might seem to be a mountain to climb. He believes in forming a partnership with the patient, giving them confidence in the process and a successful result.

Dr. Robert Fortino, received his undergraduate degree from Temple University in Mechanical Engineering and Technology in 1986. After 10 years in the engineering world, he decided to make a career change following a life altering medical condition. After recovery, he focused on medical school and graduated in 1996 from The Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine in 1999.

Loving challenges in medicine, Dr. Fortino is also a residency trained flight surgeon in the United States Air Force since 2002, focused on Aerospace Medicine Occupational Medicine as it applies to the aerospace flight environment. Currently, he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Military medicine is challenging because a physician must provide care to these incredible warriors who work in complex and dangerous situations. Their health and well-being are vital to work performance and the completion of the mission. To be a military physician one must be physically fit and mentally sharp and understand the work environment in which these Warriors perform.

Physically fit and practicing what he preaches is vital to Dr. Fortino. He won the 1989 North American Power Lifting Championship, and he continues to incorporate weight training in his life. Weight training became his passion. He credits weight training in strengthening his health, mind, confidence, and spirit.

He believes it is the missing link for weight loss success. Dr. Fortino says, “True success is not losing 10 pounds, it is the process that you create to keep the 10 pounds off”.

Knowledge and confidence are the cornerstones to success. Dr. Fortino instills this at every patient encounter. Motivating someone to incorporate a fit lifestyle, practice more physical conditioning, and nutritional education is paramount for achieving true success in weight management.

Nutrition is so important for Dr. Fortino. He believes that having a strong foundation of nutritional knowledge builds solid results. He teaches his patients that, “Food Is Medicine” as a model. This means that the right foods will “heal the body”.
